superficial basal cell carcinoma

Description: sharply demarcated partly translucent flat tumor with desquamation on the back.

Differential diagnosis

* basal cell carcinoma: the translucent material suggests this diagnosis.

* Bowen's disease: the translucent tissue suggests a basal cell carcinoma. However, a Bowen's disease can not be ruled out on basis of the clinical picture alone. Histology may be required.

Diagnosis: superficial basal cell carcinoma.
